Industrial Sewer

Softwares Department Supervisor

Primary Accountability

Fabrication and repair of all soft goods and props.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and repair all drape, table-covers, twisters, pillows, costumes, slipcovers and all other soft goods
  • Make patterns; cut and assemble patterns
  • Assist in the design and fabrication of new soft props and costumes
  • Perform all duties with accuracy and speed

Secondary Functions

  • Perform all duties with accuracy and speed
  • Other duties as assigned

Interacts With:

Softwares Department Supervisor, other Department Supervisors and Managers, Business Development staff; Production and other Staff Members.

Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer college degree or college coursework in fabric design and/or textiles

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to operate an industrial sewing machine safely with accuracy and speed
  • Familiarity with fabric properties; able to work on various fabric types
  • Ability to communicate verbally in an effective and professional manner
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and provide self-motivation

Required Experience

Minimum of 1 year industrial sewing experience. Two to three years industrial sewing experience is preferred. Theater experience is preferred. Upholstery experience is preferred.

Measurable Performance Standards

Meet established productivity goals for the completion of sewing projects to support the needs at scheduled special events.

Supplies / Tools / Equipment

  • Must be able to operate an industrial sewing machine and a serger
  • Must be able to use various types of shears and threads, measuring tape, and other measuring instruments
  • Must be able to effectively handle large fabric bolts
