The Objective: To design and build an open and visually appealing exhibit booth within a 20'x20' space that is functional, lightweight and fresh.

The 30th annual National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) brought teachers, administrators, and industry leaders from across the country to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. Fandango Productions was chosen to plan and produce Blackboard’s presentation area for the conference.

Blackboard Inc. provides educational software to schools and universities in an effort to build informed and connected communities through its technology. Working closely with the client in consideration of the client’s objectives, Fandango Productions crafted a visual display that would work for the company’s purposes.

Confronted with the challenge of how to execute the envisioned exhibit within the client’s budget, Fandango took existing items and economically repurposed them by making slight adjustments. Fandango staff engineered customized products to meet the client’s needs. Computer kiosks, originally designed to hold one computer, were modified to include a raised plexi shelf in order to accommodate space for two back-to-back laptop computers.

Fandango constructed a space that welcomed visitors into the booth and provided placement for Blackboard’s literature, including double-sided computer stations to demo products. In addition, a theater seating area was created to entertain attendees and to tactically direct their attention to a presentation displayed on a plasma screen affixed to the center column unit.

The exhibit offered an inviting and interactive space in which visitors could explore and learn about Blackboard’s products and offerings. Mindful of the client’s needs and with great attention to detail, Fandango Productions’ executed an event both well attended and well received by attendees of the conference. The strategically designed layout, customized signage and décor elements, combined with the display’s overall visual appeal, contributed to the great success of the event.
